The 1619 Project, inaugurated with a special issue of The New York Times Magazine, challenges us to reframe U.S. history by marking the year when the first enslaved Africans arrived on Virginia soil as our nation's foundational date. Catherine Halley of JSTOR has compiled a list of their articles on race and racism in America.

The Library of Congress has prepared a section of lesson plans about African American history that use primary sources from their collections to talk about topics such as slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, and segregation. Links to sources used in the lessons are provided.

"This is a working document for scaffolding anti-racism resources. The goal is to facilitate growth for white folks to become allies, and eventually accomplices for anti-racist work. These resources have been ordered in an attempt to make them more accessible."

The Teaching Decolonization Resource Collection provides a range of materials to support the study of decolonization in the classroom. This diverse collection of resources is, in part, an outgrowth of the National History Center's decade-long International Decolonization Seminar. Primary and secondary sources are organized by region and theme; teaching resources can be found in educational materials.
