Creating a link in Alexander Street Press Databases
STEP ONE: Once you have performed the search in the databases, select the desired video from the hit list.
STEP TWO: Click Share above the video. Then click Copy Permalink.
STEP THREE: To link to the video, copy and paste the provided link into the desired location. Add the OpenAthens URL BEFORE the video URL. The OpenAthens URL is: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/ivcc.edu?url=
Creating a clip to a video
STEP ONE: Select Clips at the top right. To create a clip of the specific section of a video, you must login or create an account.
STEP TWO: Drag the white circles to the start and end points of your clip. Fill in the title box with a title of your choosing. Select the appropriate option for visibility, which include 'Private', 'Public' or 'Institutional'.
If you wish to bookmark a segment to have ready to show in class, you could select the visibility option of ‘Private.’ If you wish to share the clip for others to watch, select the visibility option of ‘Institution.’ If you choose to use this option, it is suggested you use a naming convention to identify your clips, such as ‘Wohrley – I Have a Dream excerpt’ for ease of retrieval by users.
Once saved, your clip will show up on the side bar on the right.
STEP THREE: If students are on-campus, they will not need to login to see the list of shared film clips. Go to any of the Alexander Street Video Collection modules and click on the ‘View Clips’ link at the top.
STEP FOUR: From the next screen, click on ‘Everyone at my institution.’ The list that is generated will include only clips created by IVCC users. Click on the ‘Clip Title” to view the clip.
