Featured Presenter: Amy Magnafichi Strong. The Case for Intellectual Freedom. Discussions about intellectual freedom are nothing new. However, for the past couple of years, there has been a huge uptick in book challenges across the country. Many of these challenges are rooted in falsehoods. As educators, we are on the frontline of protecting our students' right to read and for providing a robust window to the world those students may encounter. In this discussion, we will grapple with the current reasons for challenges, how to talk to stakeholders wanting to remove materials, and most importantly, why intellectual freedom is necessary.
