About Jacobs Library

Jacobs Library is a helpful learning resource to assist you in soaring through your career as a student at IVCC. As part of our mission, we strive to provide resources and services to help enable our community to seek, evaluate, and use information. 

With over 500,000 resources in the library's physical, online, and digital collection, we seek to provide to a variety of needs. Additionally, we pair these with services to help you find and utilize these resources, such as reference support, embedded class services, instruction sessions, interlibrary loan, technology services, citation help and copyright support.

Below, you will also find the various study spaces we provide to serve the variety of patrons we have. Included are spaces with different noise levels and supplies to help fit the needs of all your diverse learning and research styles.

A Building

The entry of the library, building A space, houses the library Service Desk, student study space, quick print stations, a scanner, Best Seller's Collection, Audiobooks, and Leisure Videos. Stop by the library Service Desk to borrow materials, participate in the library orientation, ask a research question, or ask any other questions.

Reading Room

The Reading Room is the dividing area of A Building and the rest of the library. The reading room has a few comfy chairs, study tables, chess table, puzzle table and holds several pieces of the library's collection. The collections located in the reading room are IVCC Authors (books written by past and present students, faculty and staff), New Books, Fiction, Wellness, and Graphic Novels.

Noise level: Low Conversation

Main Collection

Study tables, computers, and comfortable seating are available in the main collection area of Jacobs Library. Each study table seats up to 4 people and many tables have power for charging laptops and other devices. Computers are available throughout the space for students to use for as long as needed.

Group Viewing Room

The group viewing room contains a table, four chairs, a marker board, and DVD/VHS player for viewing videos.

Group Study Room #2

Three group study spaces are available throughout Jacobs Library. These rooms are intended for small group meetings for 4-6 people and may have a computer and whiteboard available for use.

Local History/Study Space

Local History is a special collection of materials about the local area (IVCC District).

Group Study Room #1

Three group study spaces are available throughout Jacobs Library. These rooms are intended for small group meetings for 4-6 people and may have a computer and whiteboard available for use.

Active Learning Space

The Active Learning Space is designed for students to create the learning environment best suited for their needs. Tables, chairs, and marker boards are on wheels for ease in modifying the layout. Also available for use in the Active Learning Space are an interactive whiteboard and projector, soft seating, and a collaboration table. The collaboration table allows for 6 devices to connect to a large monitor for viewing and sharing group members' work.
