For Faculty: Add Formative Assessment to Streaming Videos

If you are interested in building a quiz into a streaming video to foster student engagement, view the instructions below.

STEP ONE: Create a Films On Demand Account by selecting the 'Your Profile' button at the top right of the page. You must have an account to create and save quizzes.

STEP TWO: When creating an account, make sure to select that you are an instructor to confirm your ability to use faculty features of Films On Demand.

STEP THREE: Now you will have access to create quizzes and view a quick recorded tutorial when you are viewing the resource details. For more information, and a more in depth tutorial, see the video linked here

How To...

Share or Embed Video

  • To email a copy of the video, copy the "Record URL" link.
  • To embed the video within Blackboard, select the "Embed Code."

Cite a Video

  • Select the Cite button below the video to capture a citation in MLA, APA, Chicago, or Harvard styles.
  • To export the citation to NoodleTools, select the "NoodleTools button. To learn more about citation and NoodleTools, navigate to the library's Citation Guide.

Create Clips/Segments

Login to Films on Demand with your personal login information. If you don't have an account, create one using your IVCC email. 

To create clips of videos:

  1. Toggle the video to the beginning of where you want to start your clip. Select the "Set Start Time" button.
  2. Toggle the video to the end of where you would like to stop your clip. Select the "Set End Time" button.
  3. Set your thumbnail image.
  4. Enter the title of your clip.
  5. Enter a description of your clip.
  6. Select the "Create Segment" button.
