Fines & Fees From Other Libraries

Because interlibrary loan items are the property of their lending libraries, any fines and fees related to these items will be handled according to the policies and procedures of the library that the item was lent from. If you have questions about fines related to an interlibrary loan item, please contact the lending library directly. You can view any fines on your account, as well as the libraries that placed them, by logging into your library catalog account. If you need assistance determining where an interlibrary loan item came from, or locating the lending library's contact information, please contact the Jacobs Library service desk.

Oops, I lost or damaged an item! What happens now?

IVCC Library - Lost / Damaged Item Policy

-An IVCC library item will enter lost status after it has been overdue for 30 days.

-When an item enters lost status or becomes damaged, a replacement fee will be added to the account of the patron who borrowed the item. The replacement fee for a lost item is $30.

-If a patron returns a lost item, the library will waive the replacement fee.

-If a patron is unable to locate a lost item or an item becomes damaged, they will be responsible for paying a $30 replacement fee.

*In some cases, library staff may waive an item's $30 replacement fee in exchange for a replacement copy. However, each item will be considered on a case by case basis and patrons must receive permission from a library staff member before presenting a replacement.  All replacement items must meet the library's criteria and are subject to final approval by library staff. The library is not obligated to accept an unapproved replacement copy.

Replacement Item Criteria for Lost or Damaged Items

*In some cases, Jacobs Library will allow patrons to purchase a replacement copy of a lost or damaged item.  The replacement copy must meet the following criteria and is subject to the approval of the library staff.

Replacement item criteria:
Must be clean.  No writing, marks, spills, smells or mold
Cover and pages are not torn or bent.
Binding is tight.  No loose or missing pages.
Must be the same edition or newer.
Items must be brought to the library and receive staff approval before replacement fines can be waived
