Readings & Resources (Leganto) - Quick Start Guide

Faculty Access to Leganto

IVCC faculty members can access Leganto in two ways:

  • Through IVCC's direct link
  • By installing the Readings & Resources tool in your Brightspace course

IVCC Direct Link

IVCC's direct link will take you to the Leganto login screen. After you've logged in with your IVCC credentials, you'll be able to build new reading lists or access lists from previous semesters.

Installing the Readings & Resources Tool in Brightspace

If you would like to include a Leganto reading list in your BrightSpace course, you can do so by installing the Readings & Resources tool. Please visit the Tutorials & Videos page for step by step instructions.

Student Access to Leganto

IVCC students can access course reading lists in two ways:

  • Through the Readings & Resources tool in their Brightspace course
  • Through a reading list link that is provided by their instructor

Installing the Readings & Resources Tool in Brightspace

If you would like to include a Leganto reading list in your BrightSpace course, you can do so by installing the Readings & Resources tool. Please visit the Tutorials & Videos page for step by step instructions.

Once this process is complete, students will be able to access the reading list that is associated with their course by clicking the Readings & Resources tool in Brightspace.

Generating a Reading List Link

Instructors may choose to generate a reading list link for a number of reasons. Some examples include:

  • Providing a link to dual credit students that use a system other than BrightSpace.
  • Adding a link to your course syllabus

Note: Reading list links that are generated in Leganto are not compatible with Brightspace and will not function properly if they are added to a Brightspace course. Please see the installation directions link above if you are interested in setting up reading list access for your students in Brightspace through the Readings & Resources Tool

Directions for generating a reading list link:

  • Open Leganto.
  • Login using your IVCC email and password.
  • Select the reading list that you would like to generate a link for.
  • Hover over the icons in the upper menu bar. Click the icon that says "share list." This will open a popup window with an option for copying the sharable link to your reading list.
  • Click "Copy sharable link to list" to save the link to your clipboard.
  • Provide the link to your students outside of Brightspace. Common uses include inclusion in a course syllabus or email.  Please note that students will be prompted to login with their IVCC credentials.

Notes to Remember:

  • Reading lists must be published and associated with a course before they become visible to your students. If your list has not been reviewed by the library, some materials may not be immediately available to your students. This includes physical items that must be moved to the reserve shelf and documents that require a copyright release.
  • Students will be prompted to login with their IVCC credentials when they follow the link.
  • Reading list links that are generated in Leganto are currently incompatible with Brightspace courses.
