You can reserve this equipment by visiting the Jacobs Library room reservation page

  • Click the Reserve a Space button
  • Select the Active Learning Space
  • Select your date and time
  • Enter your information and reserve your appointment

 

Make a Reservation

Zoom Tips

  • Connect the rally bar microphone and camera
    • Look for the microphone and camera icons on your Zoom menu bar.
    • Use the drop down menu arrow next to each icon to select the rally bar microphone and camera.
  • Adjust the view
    • Hover over the participant windows. A View button should appear in the upper right corner.
    • Click the view button and choose between gallery view and speaker view.
      • Gallery view will display multiple participants on the screen.
      • Speaker view will automatically make the person who is speaking full screen.
  • Pin a participant
    • To keep a specific participant on the screen, hover over their image.
    • Next, click on the ... button that appears.
    • Finally,  select the pin option from the drop down menu.
    • The participant will remain full screen until you right click and select remove pin.
  • Enable captions
    • Look for the CC icon on the Zoom menu bar. Use the arrow to the right of the icon to choose between hide captions and show captions.
    • If you choose select captions, Zoom will automatically caption the speaker's words and display them at the bottom of the screen.
  • Record to the cloud
    • If you decide to record a Zoom meeting, please be sure to select record to cloud. Recordings that are saved to the laptop on the tv cart will automatically be erased when the device is shut down.

Quick Start Instructions for Presenters

Using the laptop on the TV cart:

  • Turn on the laptop on the TV cart. The laptop should log in automatically. If you are prompted for a password, restart the laptop.
  • Switch on the bluetooth mouse and keyboard located on the podium. The laptop on the TV cart is connected to them via a small USB fob.
  • Use the power button on the TV remote to turn on the monitor. In most cases, the laptop screen will appear as PC under recent devices menu. If this option does not automatically appear, use the left arrow to access the menu on the left side of the screen. Select connected devices, then HDMI1.

Using your own device:

  • Presenter devices can be connected to the TV monitor via an HDMI cable in the HDMI 2 port. Please contact the library service desk in A-201 for cable, adapters, and assistance.
  • Alternatively, you can project your device's screen via Zoom.
    • Follow the steps above for using the laptop on the TV cart
    • Open Zoom on your device and begin a meeting
    • Use the laptop on the TV cart to join the Zoom meeting as a participant.
    • At this point, anything that is shared via Zoom from the presenter's device will be displayed on the TV cart laptop and the TV monitor.
    • Note: You will need to mute the audio on the TV cart laptop to prevent a voice echo.
  • Library staff are investigating wireless mirroring options. Directions will be added to this page once this feature becomes available.

 

Rallybar Camera and Speakers

The ASC's Active Learning Space includes a Rallybar camera for blended presentations.The camera and speaker system is compatible with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.

  • Begin an online meeting.
  • Ensure that the Rallybar camera, microphone, and speakers are set as your defaults.
  • Use the square remote to adjust the camera with the arrow buttons. Pressing the home button will return the camera to center.
  • The volume and mute buttons allow you to control the microphone and speakers.
