What is National Native American Heritage Month?

According to the Native American Heritage Month website, this celebration was started by Dr. Arthur C. Parker, a Seneca Indian. He persuaded the Boy Scouts of America to help him and by doing so this celebration started out as just being celebrated on one day. However, by 1990 President George H. W. Bush appointed November be as Native American Heritage Month(1).

Native American Heritage Month is to celebrate the significant contributions of the first Americans that helped establish and grow the U.S.(1)
